When I think of my most used seasonings for my everyday cooking, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder are my top four seasonings because I can always count on them for flavor. They are also just good base seasonings for just about anything. While organizing my spice rack the other day, I noticed that all of my most used and favorite seasonings were on the top row and pretty much begging me to mix them into one harmonious, cozy, and fragrant blend…it made sense. So I present to you, Cozy Good Spice Blend: A warm & savory blend of pantry favorites.
For this spice blend we are mixing salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, sugar, smoked paprika, cinnamon, creole seasoning, ginger, and oregano.
As mentioned, the salt, pepper, onion, and garlic powder are the base. I added sugar for a subtle sweetness and I really love the instant warmth that cinnamon adds to any dish. The smoked paprika and creole seasonings work well together because the smokiness of the paprika balances the saltiness and spice of the creole seasoning without comprising the rich deep flavor. The ginger also adds a nice floral spiciness that works well with the creole and paprika. And of course, oregano for a nice savory balance.
I plan to use this blend in many of the recipes going forward so I definitely suggest that you mix up a bottle to keep on hand and add it to your staple pantry items. For this recipe, all you have to do is mix the ingredients together in a bowl and store it in an empty seasoning bottle or container.
